By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Dr Elijio Panti Cycling Race is set for Sunday, June 16, over gruelling terrain in the San Antonio-Mountain Pine Ridge area in the Cayo District.
Just returned from the Central American and Pan American Cycling Championships, riders like Jyven Gonzalez, Derick ‘Baby Chav’ Chavarria, Carlton Robinson, and Jaylen Briceño, are among the favourites.
The race, put together by San Antonio rider Angel Tzib, starts at San Antonio, goes through Cristo Rey, heads to Santa Elena, onto the George Price Highway to Georgeville into the Mountain Pine Ridge Road all the way to the Blancaneaux Lodge entrance and back to San Antonio for approximately 40 miles.
“I am thrilled to invite you to the highly anticipated Don Elijio Panti Cycling Race!” Tzib said in a social media post.
“Mark your calendars for June 16th, 2024, and get ready to pedal through the scenic beauty of San Antonio, Cayo.”
The race starts at 10:00 am.
A full day of activities, including Pok Ta Pok, Greasy Pole, and Greasy Pig, is also planned at San Antonio on Sunday.
Pre-registration is $20.00 while race day registration is $30.00.
The winner will earn $500, second place $400, and third place $300. All get trophies.
Additionally, $600.00 is being offered for station prizes.
