By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Ministry of Infrastructure Development & Housing (MIDH) informed the public of the long-term closure of the San Martin Bridge in Belmopan.
The bridge will be closed from Monday, 24th June 2024 to 26th October 2024.
This temporary closure is necessary for the construction of a new replacement bridge which will include two (2) traffic lanes and two (2) sidewalks.
Work will also be done to improve the approaches to the bridge.
Motorists are advised to use the Bridge on Cemetery Road during the closure period.
The Belmopan City Council also said that the pedestrian crossing will remain open, but the public is asked to adhere to the safety advisories put in place due to the proximity to works.
