MVP Eithan Vargas of Cayo’s St Jude RC of Camalote
By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Eithan Vargas of National Primary Schools Football Champions Cayo’s St Jude RC from Camalote was named the Most Valuable Player of the National Sports Council Primary Schools Football Championship held on Thursday and Friday at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk Town.
St Jude RC from Camalote won the National Primary Schools Football Final 1-0 over Belize District’s Our Lady of Way RC from Ladyville on Friday.
Corozal’s Concepción RC won third place in a 5-4 penalty-kick shootout win over the Toledo District’s San Pedro Colombia RC after regulation and extra time finished in a 0-0 draw.
Vargas scored a goal in St Jude 1-1 draw against Concepción in the first round of the national championship. St Jude then defeated Stann Creek’s Holy Ghost 1-0 to qualify to the semifinals in which they defeated San Pedro Colombia 1-0
The National Sports Council Sports Council’s Primary Schools Football Championship was the final tournament for the 2023-24 school year organized by the National Sports Council of Belize which also holds basketball, volleyball, softball, and athletics championships annually.
