Romania blast Ukraine 3-0 in UEFA EURO 2024 on Monday; Netherlands, England triumph on Sunday

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Romania got off to a good start in Group E at the UEFA European Championship (EURO2024) on Monday blanking Ukraine 3-0 at the Munich Football Arena in Munich, Germany.

Nicolae Stanciu opened the scoring in the 29^th. Răzvan Marin increased the lead to 2-0 in the 53^rd minute before Denis Drăguş put the game away in the 57^th.

Romania now lead Group E with three points ahead of Ukraine (0), Belgium (0), and Slovakia (0). The last two play on Monday at 10:00 pm. Group D’s Austria and France close the day’s activities at 1:00 pm.

On Sunday, the Netherlands beat Poland 2-1 marking a good start in Group D action at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg.

Adam Buksa scored the opening goal putting Poland ahead in the 16^th minute but Cody Gakpo levelled the score in the 29^th minute. Wout Weghorst put the game away for the Dutch in the 83^rd.

After one match, Netherlands lead Group D with three points. Poland doesn’t have any. Austria and France play their first game on Monday.

In Group C, Slovenia drew 1-1 with Denmark in the second game at Stuttgart Arena in Stuttgart.

Christian Eriksen put Denmark ahead in the 17^th minute by Erik Janză tied the match in the 77^th.

England then edged Serbia 1-0 in what was considered a boring game on a lone goal by Jude Bellingham off a header in the 13^th minute at the Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen.

England lead Group With three points followed by Denmark and Slovenia with one solitary point each. Serbia don’t have a point yet.
