By Horace Palacio: Belizeans can expect continued wet weather as a broad area of low pressure continues to influence the country’s weather patterns, the National Meteorological Service said on Wednesday.
After a day of sunny spells mixed with scattered showers and thunderstorms, heavier rain is expected to move in overnight, particularly affecting coastal and northern areas.
A Strong Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect, with the potential for heavy rainfall, intense lightning, and damaging winds. Residents are advised to monitor the situation closely and take necessary precautions.
The forecast for Thursday and Thursday night calls for mostly cloudy to overcast skies with showers, thunderstorms, and periods of light to moderate rain, especially in the northern and central regions.
Temperatures will remain warm, with highs reaching the low 90s Fahrenheit (low 30s Celsius) in coastal areas.
This extended period of wet weather comes as Belize enters its rainy season, which typically runs from June to November.
