By Horace Palacio: The City Emergency Management Organization (CEMO) has issued a weather update, warning residents of potential heavy rainfall and flooding within the next 48 hours.
According to the National Meteorological Service, Belize City is currently under a strong thunderstorm watch, with a predicted maximum of 4 to 8 inches of rainfall in some areas, and up to 10 inches in others. This significant amount of rainfall is expected to lead to flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
CEMO advises Belize City commuters to exercise extreme caution and remain vigilant until the water recedes. Residents in flood-prone areas are urged to stay updated with alerts from NEMO, CEMO, and the National Meteorological Service.
The public is encouraged to tune in for further updates and to exercise caution when driving or walking in adverse weather conditions.
