By Rubén Morales Iglesias: England failed to meet expectations and just managed a 1-1 draw with Denmark at the Frankfurt Arena in Frankfurt, Germany in the second game on Thursday in the UEFA European Championship (EURO2024).

England took an early lead when captain Harry Kane scored a left-foot goal in the 18^th minute.

However, England’s level dropped after the goal while Denmark rushed ahead and levelled the score at 1-1 in the 34^th minute. Morten Hjulmand unleashed a 30-yard strike placing the ball into the far corner past the outstretched arms of England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Denmark were more offensive down the stretch but neither could get the edge. Coupled with Serbia’s dramatic stoppage time 1-1 draw against Slovenia earlier, Group C’s fate will be determined on Matchday 3.

The draw meant the favoured English team failed to punch their ticket to the Round of 16 despite leading Group C with four points. As it stands, all the four teams are still alive as Denmark and Slovenia follow England with two points while Serbia have one.

The two qualifying teams will be decided on Matchday 3 when England face Slovenia and Denmark take on Serbia on Tuesday, June 25..

The final game on Thursday promises to be a superb match Spain vs Italy line-ups | UEFA EURO 2024 | UEFA.com at 1:00 pm. Both won their first game and are leading Group B. A win today gives either of them their ticket to the Round of 16. A draw would put them in a similar position to Group C since Albania and Croatia have one point apiece.
