Kenyon Flores gets 2 years for assaulting off-duty officer in 2022 armed robbery

By Breaking Belize News Staff:  Late Monday evening, Kenyon Carlton Flores, 23, was found guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on Police Constable Luis Santoya. Flores, a Southside resident of Lake View Street, received a custodial sentence of two years and two months, effective from June 17, 2024.

The incident occurred on January 18, 2022, when PC Santoya, off duty, intercepted two men robbing a Bangladesh woman in Constitution Park. Flores, wielding a chrome revolver, threatened Santoya, allowing the robbers to escape with the purse. The second suspect remains at large.

Flores, silent during his defense, was convicted after months of trial in Court #6. Police continue to pursue charges for the robbery.
