Government of Belize provides annual subvention of BZ$7.6 million to UB

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Government of Belize is reinforcing its commitment to higher education with substantial support for the University of Belize (UB).

Currently, an annual subvention of BZ$7.6 million is allocated to UB by the government.

In a further boost, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, and Technology (MoECST) has significantly increased its financial assistance, providing a record BZ$7.5 million annually from 2020 to 2023 in scholarships and financial assistance.

This marks a substantial rise from the BZ$1.5 million allocated in 2019.

These measures highlight Belize’s dedication to enhancing educational opportunities and ensuring more students can pursue higher education at the national university.
