By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) on Wednesday evening postponed the first leg of the Premier Women’s League of Belize Finals between Sagitun GIRLZ and Jewel Fury due to Hurricane Beryl.
In announcing the closing of its offices at 5:00 pm on Wednesday until the ‘all clear’ is given by the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), the FFB said all football matches scheduled for the weekend would be ‘postponed until further notice’.
“We are committed to ensuring the safety of all participants. Staff, and stakeholders, and appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time,” the FFB said in a press release.
The FFB also urged everyone to keep themselves informed on the hurricane’s progress and to heed all official safety advisories.
Second-seeded Sagitun GIRLZ were to host first-seeded Jewel Fury on Saturday at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence in the first game of two.
