Football Federation of Belize postpones National Amateur Interdistrict Championship due to Beryl

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) on Wednesday evening postponed the return leg of the National Amateur Interdistrict Championship (NAIC).

In announcing the closing of its offices at 5:00 pm on Wednesday until the ‘all clear’ is given by the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), the FFB said all football matches scheduled for the weekend would be ‘postponed until further notice’.

“We are committed to ensuring the safety of all participants, staff, and stakeholders, and appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time,” the FFB said in a press release.

The FFB also urged everyone to keep themselves informed on the hurricane’s progress and to heed all official safety advisories.

Last weekend, the NAIC completed six of eight Round of 16 matches and was to have continued the tournament this coming weekend on both Saturday and Sunday.

The FFB also postponed the first leg of the Premier Women’s League of Belize Finals between second-seeded Sagitun GIRLZ and top-seeded Jewel which was scheduled for Saturday at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence in the first game of two.
