By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Football Federation of Belize’s (FFB) Technical Director Philip Marin and Head of Coaching Education and also Head Coach of the Belize Women’s National Team Wayne Casimiro are in Trinidad and Tobago participating the fourth edition of the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) A License Coaching Course.

The TTFA said the course, which started on Monday at the University of Trinidad and Tobago Campus, Pt.Lisas, is consistent with other A License courses in the CONCACAF and UEFA regions.

“The main aim of this course is to educate coaches on the modern trends of the game, focusing on the practical & theoretical aspects of coaching, with an emphasis on leading the elite player and team at an advanced level,” the TTFA said in a statement.

The course is being conducted by TTFA Technical Director Anton Corneal, Brazil Football Confederation (CBF) Coach educator Geraldo Delamore, and American Dr Gareth Smith, who has extensive experience in coaching, education, and leadership.

Marin and Casimiro are attending the course along with coaches from Trinidad, Guyana, and Barbados.

The six-day course, which finishes on July 8, is the first of three blocks. Marin said the next two blocks will be in December 2024 and April 2025 in Trinidad and Tobago.

Philip Marin and Casimiro participated in the Inaugural Concacaf Coach Education Conference in Miami, Florida on December 12-13, 2023. The course served as a key forum for technical educational leaders from across the regional and beyond to share best practices in coach education.
