By Horace Palacio: Belizeans are waking up to a mostly sunny morning today, Wednesday, July 10th, but forecasters predict a moderate increase in showers as the day progresses, thanks to a weak tropical wave passing through the region.
According to the National Meteorological Service of Belize, while the day will start with clear skies and isolated showers, tonight will bring cloudy conditions and a few showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the southern parts of the country.
Coastal areas can expect temperatures to reach a high of 88°F (31°C), while inland regions will experience slightly warmer temperatures peaking at 94°F (34°C). Hilly areas will offer a respite from the heat, with temperatures hovering around 82°F (28°C).
The National Meteorological Service assures residents that no tropical cyclone formation is expected in the North Atlantic, the Caribbean Sea, or the Gulf of Mexico within the next 48 hours.
Looking ahead to Thursday, the forecast predicts generally fair weather with isolated showers or thunderstorms. However, residents in the south should be prepared for a few more showers as the night progresses.
Mariners are advised to exercise caution as easterly winds of 10-20 knots will create choppy sea conditions with waves reaching 3-5 feet.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated with the latest weather information from the National Meteorological Service of Belize as the tropical wave continues to influence weather patterns across the country.
