By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police are investigating a major heist at James Brodies Ltd. on the Phillip Goldson Highway, where burglars allegedly stole a safe containing over $100,000 in cash last Tuesday.
The burglars reportedly entered through the rooftop, removing two zinc sheets to access the office. Suspiciously, the sheets were removed directly above the safe’s location. While one burglar escaped, another was trapped overnight and fled when the store opened the next day.
Despite no official report to media, reliable sources confirm that three to eight people were detained and interrogated by the police’s Special Patrol Unit (SPU). Eight individuals, including three from Buttonwood Bay, were questioned and later released.
Security measures were in place, but the alarm system failed to prevent the theft. The investigation continues as authorities seek to identify those responsible for the heist.
