By Breaking Belize News Staff: Karina Brendalee Lord, 39, pregnant with twins and a mother of five, is on remand at the Belize Central Prison pending a psychiatric evaluation. The Ladyville resident faces charges of aggravated assault and using insulting words against two female police officers, PC Nazira Avila and PC Devonie McLaughlin.
The incident occurred on July 16, 2024, at the Queen Street Police Station, where Lord allegedly assaulted the officers. In court, Lord, who was unrepresented, claimed the incident stemmed from a previous altercation at her home. Noting her erratic behavior, the magistrate ordered the psychiatric evaluation before proceeding with the case.
Lord’s next court date is set for September 2024.
