By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, RET International officially closed its Anti-Trafficking awareness campaign.

The campaign entitled “Transportation Leaders Empowered through Education, Awareness and Effective Policy Change on Human Trafficking in Belize (TLEAP)” included discussions on vulnerabilities in the transit system.

Over several months, the RET team visited stakeholders all across Belize who work in or regulate public transportation.

During those trips, the non-profit organization’s representatives educated participants about vulnerabilities in the transit system (land, sea and air) that can cause workers to unknowingly facilitate human traffickers in their missions to move victims through different parts of the country.
