By Aaron Humes: The West Street (Dakers) Park has been rescued from oblivion by a combination of the Police Department (Eastern Division), the Mesopotamia Youth Group and Pine Lumber Co. Ltd. which donated various play sets and picnic tables.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Chester Williams acknowledged that due to circumstances, social work has become an important part of policing, because crime has many roots.
Jamal “Shyne” Barrow, Musical Ambassador speaking for the youth group, and Belize City Councilor Kevin Singh concurred: if the youth are kept out of trouble, they do not fall under the spell of the criminal elements.
