By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Mary Hill R.C. School (MHRCS) holds its inaugural 21K Run for the Environment, on Sunday, August 4, 2024, starting at the MHRCS school grounds and concluding at Orchid Bay Resort.
Runners are invited to lace up their running shoes and join the school community in this scenic 21.1K (13.1 miles) run on the newly paved Sarteneja Road.
MHRCS has long been an advocate for environmental preservation and protection. This run is part of the school’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness and funds for environmental causes.
“As part of this initiative, we want you all to join us as we run through the pristine and natural environment of the Sarteneja Road and cross over Laguna Seca and the newly built bridges leading to Orchid Bay Resort,” Mary Hill R.C. School said in its promotion of the race.
“We will team up with other groups who will be picking up trash while others jog, all with the sole purpose of making a positive impact on the environment. Sign up today and let us all lace up and run for a cleaner environment.”
The race will begin at 5:35 am from the Mary Hill R.C. School’s compound in Corozal Town. The route includes the Laguna Seca Bridge, which is complete and passable, and the Pueblo Nuevo Bridge, which is still under construction.
Registration for the event for runners who wish to receive a race shirt, the deadline was Wednesday, July 17, 2024, but for those who don’t want a shirt, the registration deadline is Wednesday, July 31, 2024. The entry fee was $55 for regular registration but $45 for extended registration without a shirt.
