National Amateur Interdistrict Championship: Legends whip defending champions Club Atletico 5-0, advance to Semifinals

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Toledo Legends were merciless, defeating the National Amateur Interdistrict Champions, Club Atletico, in a rather unexpected 5-0 trouncing on Saturday night to advance to the semifinals with a 6-1 aggregate score.

The Legends took advantage of the home field at the Victor Sanchez Stadium in Punta Gorda, winning with ease after a tough 1-1 draw last week in Belmopan.

The Legends will now face the San Pedro Terror Squad in the semifinals. On Friday night, Terror Squad FC drew 1-1 with the other San Pedro side, the Conquerors, and qualified with a 5-1 aggregate score.

The final two quarterfinal matches are scheduled for Sunday, July 28.

Like Legends, the Calcutta Bulls, who drew 2-2 in the first leg against Orange Walk’s Mi Gente, will be hoping the home turf at the Calcutta Football Field gives them the edge. The match is set for 1:00 pm on Sunday.

The final quarterfinal match will see the EZ Conquerors seeking to overturn a 2-1 deficit against Belmopan’s Napoles when they clash at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga at 4:30 pm on Sunday as well.

The series winners advance to the semifinals.
