By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy, Logistics & E-Governance, through the Energy Unit handed over 104 PICO Solar kits to the Vice Chairman of the Belize Pig Council, Ernie Thiessen.
Farmers have reported difficulties due to inadequate lighting on their farms, which has led to issues such as bats attacking their pigs during the night.
The Ministry noted that the PICO Solar kits are an effective solution for these farmers, particularly those with pig pens located in remote areas lacking proper lighting.
Each kit includes three light bulbs with extended cables, providing illumination over a small area.
Additionally, the kits are versatile, allowing farmers to utilize their portability and charging features for other small household appliances, such as cell phones.
