Pastor and president of National Evangelical Association Victor Hernandez charged with rape and sexual assault

By Aaron Humes: Pastor of the Toledo District and President of the National Evangelical Association of Belize (NEAB), Victor Hernandez, has appeared in court in Punta Gorda Town on rape and sexual assault charges.

Hernandez, 65, of Jacintoville, Toledo District, who presides over the Toledo Faith Outreach Christian Center, is accused by a 38-year-old woman of twice raping her in August of 2015 and March of 2016, and sexual assault in 2021. He was granted a conditional bail of ten thousand dollars plus one surety of the same amount.

The woman reportedly told police investigators that she did not initially report the matter because she was threatened, personally ashamed and traumatized, and that she did not want her family to know.

The 2021 incident was reportedly witnessed by the victim’s teenage daughter, who only recently relayed the incident to another family members. Police investigated and consulted with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions leading to the pastor’s arrest.
