By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Wednesday, 8 Israeli soldiers were killed in clashes with Hezbollah in Lebanon, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
According to The Telegraph, 6 soldiers from the Egoz commando unit died in a gun battle in a southern village, while two from the Golani recon unit were killed in a separate incident. Five additional soldiers were wounded.
The first soldier named was Captain Eitan Itzhak Oster, 22, marking the first fatalities since Israel launched a ground operation in southern Lebanon on Tuesday.
This incursion aims to push Hezbollah back from the border and facilitate the return of 60,000 displaced citizens in northern Israel.
Hezbollah reported that it destroyed three Israeli tanks near Maroun al-Ras and inflicted casualties on Israeli troops, claiming to have repelled an incursion.
The Lebanese army noted that Israeli forces advanced 400 meters into Lebanese territory before withdrawing.
