By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, Acting CEO in the Ministry of Economic Development Carlos Pol attended the launch of the Research Office’s Human Rights Research Series at the University of Belize.
This series will serve as a platform for research that addresses critical societal issues and contributes to positive change.
The first publication that was presented is “A Legal and Empirical Analysis of LGBTQ+ Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights: A Case Study of Belize,” developed in collaboration with the United Belize Advocacy Movement (UNIBAM).
The Ministry noted that the research aims to shed light on the economic, social, and cultural rights of LGBTQ+ individuals in Belize.
CEO Pol expressed that although the publication “will explore the rigors of legality, human rights, and other analyses, the most important concept that we should all walk away with should be understanding what inclusion really means.”
The Ministry of Economic Development extended gratitude to the University of Belize Research Office, UNIBAM, all the researchers involved in this project.
