By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned Iran’s missile strikes on Israel, calling for an end to the “deadly cycle of tit-for-tat violence” in the region.
His comments came after Israel’s Foreign Minister declared Guterres persona non grata for failing to explicitly condemn Iran’s actions in an earlier statement.
According to the BBC, Guterres reiterated his condemnation of the missile attacks and criticized Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, describing it as “the most deadly and destructive” in his tenure.
On Tuesday, Iran launched approximately 180 missiles at Israel, most of which were intercepted.
Israel’s Foreign Minister Israel Katz responded, stating that anyone who does not unequivocally condemn Iran’s actions should not be allowed in Israel.
The situation remains tense, with ongoing escalations involving Hamas and Hezbollah in the conflict that began almost a year ago.
