By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Ukrainian forces reported the downing of a Russian fighter plane near Kostiantynivka in Donetsk on Saturday, with images showing the wreckage on a house that caught fire.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed to have seized control of the village of Zhelanne Druhe, following Ukraine’s withdrawal from Vuhledar, about 21 miles away.
According to the Associated Press, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced plans to present a “victory plan” at the upcoming Ramstein meeting on October 12, aimed at securing increased support and military assistance from allies.
In ongoing hostilities, Russian shelling in Zaporizhzhia resulted in two fatalities, while a Ukrainian drone strike on a bus in Horlivka injured nine.
Russia reported intercepting multiple Ukrainian drones and missiles overnight.
