By Aaron Humes: The name William Mason has been all over the news since Monday, but there was a time when it was not widely known.
In fact, six weeks ago, Mason appeared at a Central Emergency Management Organization (CEMO) press conference at the start of the hurricane season, claiming to represent Belize Medical Technology, which was organizing a search and rescue initiative along with CEMO and councilor Philip Willoughby.
For a man now accused of being a con artist of great magnitude, it shows the ease with which he operated with high officials, and Mayor Darrell Bradley was at sixes and sevens when asked to explain how CEMO got mixed up with Mason.
The Mayor said he personally does not know the man and contended that it is not up to his office to vet those whom it comes in contact with.
