By BBN Staff: BBN has received information indicating Corozal police have detained two men in relation to a home invasion on Tuesday night.
Reports are that in the Altamira Area in Corozal Town, two masked men approached the home of Guillermo Arana, a member of the Corozal Town Council, and broke into the house as the main door had not been secured.
When they got in they demanded money but instead of complying, Arana is reported to have struggled with one of the men, attempting to take the gun away from him. Police say that Arana reported he heard one shot go off but authorities say Arana suffered three wounds.
Police had detained two persons in connection with the incident but they have since been released. BBN understands that only one cell phone was stolen from the Arana home.
Meanwhile, Arana is reported to be in a stable condition at the Northern Regional Hospital.
