By Aaron Humes: British-Belizean David Taylor abruptly changed his plea from not guilty to guilty of 3 counts of indecent assault. The accused paedophile who was charged back in December of 2012 for committing extreme acts of pornographic exploitation of 3 boys on the Placencia Peninsula waited more than three years for trial; in April of this year he was shot in the driveway of his new house at mile 26 on the Phillip Goldson Highway.
Taylor went through trial and forced the Police prosecutor, Inspector Dennis Miles, to put his victims on the witness stand in camera before the Chief Magistrate, Ann-Marie Smith; they testified that he molested them, and forced them to take pictures while naked.
Police searched his home back in December of 2012 and found 50 videos and 500 photographs of 4 young boys between the ages of 10 and 13 years-old being made to pose nude and engaged in various homosexual acts with adult males. He was not charged in relation to those items.
This week, trial was to have continued with Taylor’s defense, but Senior Counsel Ellis Arnold informed the court that his client wished to change his plea. A tearful Taylor apologized to the victims and their parents.
Inspector Miles submitted to the court that any remorse he is showing cannot reverse the scars of the abuse he inflicted on these boys. Taylor had no previous conviction, and so, Chief Magistrate Smith sentenced him to 2 years for each count.
