By Aaron Humes: Radio host and President of the Association for Belizean Artists First, Tony Wright, has presented a first look into the development of Belizean music in a book named for his KREM Radio program, Belize Musicians Past and Present.
With compilation from Yasser Musa of the Image Factory, Wright speaks to the lives and times of such legendary names as Gerald Lord Rhaburn, Radiance Thompson, Wilfred Peters and Andy Palacio, among many others.
The book pictures and offers short biographies of a virtual Who’s Who of the Belizean music fraternity. Wright hopes for further funding to offer a more in-depth version of Belizean music history.
Wright, himself a former musician, also promotes the all-star concert Soundfest under the Association for Belizean Artists First since 2002.
