By BBN Staff:PM Barrow has written to the BNTU President.
In a letter dated, October 11, 2016, the PM wrote: “I first wish to again clarify the basis of my writing to invite the NTUCB to meet with me to finalize a joint position on the good governance agenda. This was done only after I was made aware of the NTUCB position that, as the umbrella organization to which BNTU belongs, NTUCB is the proper bargaining agent to conclude this matter with Government. It is nevertheless the fact that it was with the individual BNTU entity that the negotiations began. And in view of that and your letter today, I think the justice of the situation requires that I have another meeting with the BNTU to further address the issues raised.”
PM Barrow also said in the letter that the NTUCB is in the process of scheduling a meeting with him and whatever understanding Government and the BNTU might reach would have to be canvassed at a later meeting with the NTUCB.
“That is the only way we can ultimately have a consensus supported by all,” he emphasized.
PM Barrow ended the letter by asking the President of the BNTU to meet on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Biltmore Hotel in Belize City.
