By BBN Staff: A man in his mid 60s is in trouble after he choked a PUP youth during the PUP’s youth arm election held yesterday in Belize City.
According to reports, the man is a former driver and body guard of a former PUP leader and Prime Minister.
His son was on the ballot for one of the positions contested.
Information to BBN is that the youth who was choked was assisting the other team which was in a comfortable lead.
He was reportedly heading upstairs of the PUP’s headquarters with a delegate at around 12:55 in the afternoon when the elder man pushed him in the chest and choked him in front of a crowd.
Party officials rushed to subdue the senior citizen .
A police report was later made and he was charged with common assault.
The police did not charge the youth because police investigation revealed that he had not provoked the old man.
The senior citizen is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow.
When the youth election was finished, his son was defeated in a margin of 3 to 1 and he was struck with a charge.
Reports suggest that this isn’t the first time that the senior man has been involved in altercations during party events.
BBN will have more details tomorrow
