By BBN Staff: Residents in Guinea Grass are reporting a disturbing case of police brutality.
According to reports, Hugo Noh, a resident of the village, was brutally beaten by an off-duty officer who was out drinking with friends. The incident reportedly happened at Zhen Zhen store in the village.
At about 9:30 last night the officer allegedly approached Noh demanding his keys because Noh had been drinking.
When Noh arrived at the store and appeared to be intoxicated the officer, who was allegedly under the influence as well, approached him and there was an exchange.
Noh became upset at the officer’s request and an altercation ensued. The men that accompanied the officer became involved inflicting a severe beat down on the unarmed Noh.
It is also alleged that the officer used his gun as a blunt object, pistol-whipping Noh several times to the head. Witnesses claim that the officer’s wife rushed to the station for his gun and brought it back for him.
Noh was taken to the Northern Regional Hospital where he is still undergoing treatment for the injuries.
Noh’s sister told BBN that last night after she was informed of the incident, she visited the Guinea Grass police station to inquire about what happened. She claims the officer that beat her brother was there and threatened to kill her after loading his gun in front of her. She further claims that the officer, who appeared to be intoxicated, threatened to kill her brother.
Noh is yet to make a report as he is still in the hospital. BBN will keep following this story.
