By BBN Staff: On Sunday a Belmopan man was charged with drug trafficking.
According to police reports, last Monday, the Belmopan Quick Response Team was conducting mobile patrol on the George Price Highway when they noticed a grey Mazda taxi heading towards Belmopan began speeding off towards the Hummingbird highway.
Allegedly, the taxi was pursued when police observed that a brown sack was thrown from the vehicle. Police later retrieved the sack which contained 1120 Kilograms (25lbs) of suspected cannabis.
A few minutes later, the taxi was found, however; it had been abandoned at the entrance of St. Margaret’s Village.
On Friday night, shortly after 8 p.m., police received information which led to the arrest and detention of the alleged driver Bryan Moreira, 43 of Belmopan.
