By BBN Staff: A trawler with a Belizean flag has been fined US $65,000 by Somalia.
According to reports, the trawler was accused of fishing in Somalian waters without a valid fishing license.
Furthermore, the trawler is accused of fishing in prohibited areas with illegal fishing equipment.
Additionally, it appears that the trawler was in possession of fraudulent documents.
Almost four years ago the trawler registered to fly the Belizean flag for US $14,000 in addition to other taxes.
However, because of this incident Belize has suspended its license to the vessel until further notice.
