Wednesday, August 05, 2015. Orange Walk Bureau Reporting: A family in the Shipyard Community is mourning the loss of one of their own after he was struck by a bolt of lightning and died as a result.
Authorities in the north say they received the call around 2:20pm this afternoon and dispatched a team to investigate.
The victim has been identified as 24 year old Johan Friesen of Camp 3 in the Shipyard Community.
Investigation obtained so far indicates that Friesen who had just finished his work of cutting logwood in the New Land Area of the Santa Martha Village, was walking home when the incident occurred.
Friesen died on the spot.
Police continue their investigations.
