Annual Father’s Day Cycling Classic a success in PG

Chrisbert Garcia Reporting:  In celebration of Fathers, yesterday June 21st, Chef Prince held his annual Father’s Day Cycling Classic in Punta Gorda Town with 13 riders participating. After about 90 minutes of racing, one of the youngest riders, Devon Velasquez of the ‘Cerro’ area crossed the finish line first, receiving a trophy and his cash prize for his valiant effort.

He was followed in second place by one of the oldest riders in the race, Christopher Romero. The organizer of this race, Chef Prince, single handedly raises funds and lobbies for donations from the business community to make these races possible.

He spoke to Belize Media Group anddevon velasquez 300x281 Annual Fathers Day Cycling Classic a success in PG took the opportunity to thank PGTV, Darius Avila, PG Town Council, Jex Trophies, Reps & Sets, Teacher Jill, the PG cycling fans and everyone else who assisted in any way to make the race a success.

Prince also hosts a championship race in PG every Independence Day, September 21st, which draws large numbers of riders from every district in the country, who come to contest for the grand prize of $1000 and there is also a prize for the first PG rider to cross the finish line, which is $200.
