Tuesday, June 23rd, 2015. Orange Walk Bureau Reporting: This morning at the Trial Farm Government School, a total of 121 upper division students graduated from the Police Department’s G.R.E.A.T program.
The Gang Resistance Education And Training (G.R.E.A.T.) initiative, is an evidence-based and effective gang and violence prevention program built around school-based, law enforcement officer-instructed classroom curricula.
The Program is intended as an immunization against delinquency, youth violence, and gang membership for children in the years immediately before the prime ages for introduction into gangs and delinquent behavior.
Students we spoke to say that they have been equipped with skills to break out of conflicts, peer pressure and bullying. Deputy Commander, Selvin Tillett says he encourages all schools to jump on GREAT bandwagon.
