A consortium of organizations along with the Belize Fisheries Department organized a series of events to acknowledge our Belizean fishers and their contribution to our economy, society and cultural development.

This year’s event, under the theme, “The Caribbean Community Common Fisheries Policy: breaking the cycle of poverty in fishing communities,” is expected to be the biggest one yet with a new award being introduced, courtesy of LoveFM.

This award is named the Punta Fuego Outstanding Fisher Award” and will be presented to one lucky fisher by Ms. Ralna Lewis in a ceremony at the Coastal Zone Training room on Monday, June 29th. Fisherfolk Day Ceremony Agenda 207x300 Belize to Celebrate Fisherfolk Day
