Friday, June 26, 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: The Image Factory Art Foundation has established itself at the forefront of the conversation about art and culture in Belize, but after twenty wild and wacky years they will be the first to tell you that their business is not to pay tribute.

Indeed, with such statements as “Art is annihilation” and “Even after twenty years we have no idea who or what we are doing,” the Factory is staying true to its rebel self, its proud chip on the shoulder.YasserMusa Image Factory marks 20 years

Founder Yasser Musa and his band of angry young men and women were in finest form this morning when they invited the press to their turf on North Front Street to present a list of “demands” for the next twenty years in relation to art and culture.

Among the listed demands are a culture fund to be administered by stakeholders for creative enterprises, investing in the arts at all levels and producing works and books on a regular basis.

Tonight’s event kicks off at 7:00 with a documentary exhibit curated by Gilvano Swasey with both video and print media, and performances from many Image Factory mainstays including Leroy “Grandmaster” Young, Sean Taegar, Micah Goodin, Positive Vibes, Clinton “Pulu” Lightburn, Nello Player, River of Fire and Katie Usher.
