Conditions remain moist but improvement expected later in the week

Tuesday, October 20th, 2015. BMG: The National Meteorological Service of Belize is predicting cloudy to overcast skies today with some showers, a few thunderstorms or periods of light rain mainly in the north. Weather Feature October 20th, 2015Skies will be cloudy tonight with a few showers or thunderstorms mainly along coastal areas.

Winds will be blowing from the East-Southeast at 10 to 20 knots, becoming gusty near showers or thunderstorms and the sea state will be moderate, becoming locally rough at times. A small craft caution is in effect.

High temperatures today are expected around 84 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast; 87 degrees Fahrenheit inland and a comfortable 78 degrees Fahrenheit up at the exposed areas of the Mountain Pine Ridge and along the Maya Mountains in the south.

A high tide is expected this afternoon at 3:44 p.m. and a low tide this tonight at 8:45 p.m.

The Sun will set at 5:28 p.m. this evening.

The extended forecast into tomorrow night calls for cloudy skies at times with showers and thunderstorms decreasing across the country.

Tropical Outlook

A weak area of low pressure near the coast of Belize is unlikely to develop any further due to its proximity to land. However, this system will continue to produce locally heavy rains over the area and the threat of localized flooding remains high.

Tropical cyclone formation is not expected in the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea or Gulf of Mexico during the next 48 hours.
