The Belize Association of Planners (BAP); the Association of Professional Engineers of Belize (APEB); and the Association of Professional Architects of Belize (APAB), in partnership with the 5Cs began a two-day forum on this topic this morning at the Radisson Fort George Hotel in Belize City.

The BAP’s president, Carolyn Trench-Sandiford, says it is time to “change the narrative” on climate change to focus on urbanization and attendant issues:

Meanwhile, the Honorable Doctor Omar Figueroa, Minister with responsibility for Sustainable Development, the Environment and Climate Change says there is a special need for continuous and continued planning and zoning in urban areas.

Sharon Lindo of the Caribbean Community Climate Change Center delivered remarks on behalf of the Executive Director of the 5C’s, Dr. Kenrick Leslie. The forum continues on Thursday.
