By Aaron Humes: A 14 year old male minor, dwarfed by the police officer escorting him, appeared this morning in the Family Court, with attorney Oscar Selgado.
He is charged with the murder of 18 year old Mario Trotman, whose body was discovered on Tuesday in the dyke between the Fabers Road and Jane Usher Boulevard communities, shot once in the head.
According to police, Trotman, a resident of Louise Bevans Street, Belize City, was reported missing by relatives the day before, on Monday, March 14, 2016 at around 8:00 p.m.
Police say they initially had two persons in custody, a minor and an adult but only the minor has since been charged.
The motive for Trotman’s murder is said to be gang rivalry over affiliations in the area.
In related news, two persons have been detained for the murder of 34 year old Tanika Lemoth, a mother of two teenage boys who was shot and killed in the wee hours of Sunday morning in front of Saint John’s Vianney School. Three others were injured including the Taximan, Jaime Villanueva who had problems earlier that night with someone who he had to take out of his taxi prior to the shooting.
No charges have been levied in connection with Lemoth’s murder.
