Missing farm caretaker found dead near highway

By Aaron Humes: Having been last seen riding to his workplace on bicycle on Thursday morning, the body of 67-year-old Venancio Pop of Guinea Grass, Orange Walk was discovered on Friday evening near a farm off the Philip Goldson Highway.

Police recovered the body in an area three miles from the highway with a blue beach cruiser bicycle lying on top of his feet, already starting to decompose.

Pop was seen riding his bicycle from Sandhill Village towards the direction of the farm where he works, but he was not seen again thereafter.

Investigations continue.
