Ladyville house fire leaves family homeless

By Horace Palacio: A family of four lost their home and belongings in a fire that engulfed their unpainted board house on Belikin Boulevard in Ladyville Village on Saturday night.

The fire, reported around 9:40 p.m., quickly consumed the elevated structure, leaving the owner, Stephanie Perez, and her family with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Fortunately, no one was injured in the blaze.

According to initial investigations, Perez had left her daughter, Chelsey Mackay, and two grandchildren at home while she went to buy. Shortly after her departure, Mackay noticed the smell of smoke and immediately evacuated the house with the children.

The fire department, under the command of Mr. Castillo, arrived on the scene and extinguished the flames, but the house was completely destroyed. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and the estimated value of the structure and damages remains unknown.

The scene was processed by a Scene of Crime Technician and investigations are ongoing. The family is currently seeking assistance from the community and relevant authorities to help them rebuild their lives.
