By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Seventeen teams will challenge Belmopan’s Club Atletico as the National Amateur Interdistrict Championship (NAIC) 2024 kicks off on Saturday and Sunday, June 15 and 16.
Club Atletico clinched the national title on Saturday August 12,2023 winning the final over Orange Walk’s Caribbean Rum Boyz who didn’t qualify for this year’s tournament. Tonight Saturday, they start the defence of their title against the Stann Creek New Site HD Hustlers at 7:30 pm at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan.
The opening weekend features nine games; six on Saturday and three on Sunday.
The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) that organizes the amateur first division tournament said the home and away knockout competition should end by August 17.
The 18 teams are from the nine different regions are:
Corozal – Copper Bank FC and Calcutta Bull FC
Orange – Walk Mi Gente FC and Yo Creek United FC
Belize District – Tutbay FC and Caesar Ridge FC
Island League – Terror Squad FC and Conquerors FC
Belmopan – Napoles FC and Club Atletico
Cayo – 7 Miles FC and Santa Elena Royals United FC
Stann Creek- EZ Griga Conquerors FC and New Site HD Hustlers
Mid-South – 501 Spartans and Garage FC
Toledo – Legends FC and San Marcos FC
