By Aaron Humes: 50-year-old Doris Grant of Belize City along with Austin Underwood, 31, are stabilized at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital following a shooting earlier this morning.
Around 3:10 a.m., Grant and Underwood were returning from an event. Upon passing the bridge on Fairweather Street, someone came out from the alley that links Fairweather and West Collet Canal and fired several gunshots in their direction causing injuries to them and damaging the vehicle in which they were traveling.
Both persons drove to the hospital for assistance, where they are currently in stable condition.
Police are investigating.
Grant is out on bail for 14 counts of theft; 14 counts of obtaining property by deception and 12 counts of obtaining money transfer by deception all related to alleged swindling of persons in land transactions, which she denies. Underwood is an alleged former gang member who claims to have gone straight and invested in legitimate businesses, including the Premier League of Belize Closing Season champions Port Layola F.C. which will be participating in the Central American Cup club championship.
