By Breaking Belize News Staff: During a media interview, Minister of Home Affairs, Kareem Musa said that following the review of footage taken from the San Ignacio Community Hospital, Santa Elena resident Mynor Galindo was not at the hospital on June 1 when his brother David waa brought in after being shot and several comrades allegedly harassed and bullied doctors who were treating him.
News of the horrifying ordeal broke on 7 News Belize with a shocking interview of a healthcare worker at the hospital at the time when members of the Galindo family reportedly entered the trauma room.
Commissioner of Police Chester Williams had indicated that David Galindo’s brother, Mynor, was one of those involved in that incident.
Upon further review of the footage, it was noted that Mynor wasn’t there as he had previously indicated in a statement to Breaking Belize News.
“I am told from a review of the video footage and I hope I am not being premature here but I am told that he was not identified at the hospital, based on the review of the video footage and so whether he took part in something thereafter, that again is under investigation but in relation to the incident, the night at the hospital, I’m fairly certain he was not there based on the review of the footage,” Musa said.
In a statement from the Galindo family to BBN, they also claimed that the police were pursuing them rather than finding those responsible for the shooting death of their brother David.
“No one has been arrested or charged for my brother’s death. Instead, the police are relentlessly pursuing us rather than the actual culprits…The authorities have utterly neglected their duty to ensure our safety and have instead harassed our family, baselessly accusing us of involvement in criminal activities…we call for the media and the Police to rectify their false reports falsely labeling me and my family as part of a gang, despite no actual affiliation,” Mynor Galindo said.
Police in San Ignacio recently charged those that were at the hospital at the time David Galindo was taken for medical treatment on June 1.
