UEFA Euro 2024: Belgium bounce back, beat Romania 2-0

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belgium got past Romania 2-0 at Cologne Stadium in Cologne and remain very much alive in a very tight Group E at the UEFA European Championship (EURO2024).

Youri Tielemans fired a powershot through strikers and defenders, after being set up by Romelu Lukaku, to put Belgium ahead in the second minute.

Player of the Match Kevin De Bruyne secured the win with a  superb goal in the 80^th minute for the final 2-0.

With the Belgium victory and Ukraine’s 2-1 win over Slovakia on Friday, all four teams are level with three points each, so all teams have a statistical probability of advancing come Matchday 3 on Wednesday, June 26. That day, Slovakia will close against Romania while Ukraine will take on Belgium.

Earlier in the day, Czechia and Georgia drew 1-1 while Portugal qualified for the Round of 16 with a 3-0 thumping of Türkiye in Group F.

Türkiye, with three points, and Czechia and Georgia, with one apiece, will attempt to qualify on Matchday 3, next Wednesday. While Czechia face Türkiye, Georgia will challenge Portugal.
