Premier Women’s League of Belize: Jewel Fury advance to Finals after Caribbean Tire withdraw from semifinals

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The top-seeded Jewel Fury have qualified for the finals of the Premier Women’s League of Belize opening championship after their opponents, Caribbean Tire, threw in the towel.”

Sources at the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) said that upon withdrawal Caribbean Tire said several players were injured and didn’t have enough players to field against Jewel Fury. During the regular season, Caribbean Tire had a shortage of bench players and showed up for games with just 11 players or sometimes 12.

On Wednesday, they were blasted 12-0 by Jewel Fury in the last game of the regular season and that just made it worse for the team that finished the regular season in fourth place with 12 points.

Fury will now face the winners of the home and away series between second-place Sagitun GIRLZ and third-place Napoles.

The first semifinal between those two teams kicks off at 7:30 pm on Sunday at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan.
