By Rubén Morales Iglesias: LA Sweat’s Kaya Cattouse clinched the 24th Women’s Open National Individual Time Trial Championship held on Sunday on the John Smith Road by the Cycling Federation of Belize (CFB).
Cattouse rode the five-mile race in 13 minutes and 54 seconds (13:54) winning by nearly two minutes over the top Youth rider Irene Baki who clocked 15:49.
The next three riders were all from the Youth Category as well. Griga Cycling Club’s Arielle Gordon (16:11) rode in third, Top Flight’s Chelsey Gillett (16:18) finished fourth, and unattached Kelsi Castillo (17:55) was fifth.
Sixth place was taken by Junior cyclist Mya Bennett (39:18).
The Women’s National Individual Road Race Cycling Championship will be held on Sunday, June 30.
